Post-Extension: Marseille

2-night post-extension - $499 per person

Day 1

After breakfast, disembark and begin the ride to Marseille. Enjoy glorious views along the way—during the months of July and August, this road is known as the Lavender Route, and you will see some of native son Paul Cézanne’s cypress trees any time of the year. On the way, stop in charming Aix-en-Provence for a brief tour and some free time—art lovers may want to visit the recently renovated Musée Granet. Continue to Marseille to begin your stay at the the superior first-class Radisson Blu (or similar). Your evening is free to explore the city’s scenery, nightlife and distinctive cuisine. (B)

Day 2

Take a guided tour of Marseille, featuring Le Panier, the city’s oldest quarter, as well as city and coastal views and the iconic classical opera house. The rest of your day is at leisure; visit the Musée d’Histoire de Marseille, relax in a café or take a short boat ride out to Château D’If, a 16th-century island fortress where the Count of Monte Cristo was (fictionally) imprisoned. Make sure to try some bouillabaisse; it is the area’s signature dish. (B)

Day 3

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and proceed to the airport for your return flight.* (B)
